LINE-UPS: Sundowns v Wits


Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits have named their line-ups for tonight’s Nedbank Cup semifinal clash at Orlando Stadium, Soweto, kickoff at 19:15.

It is the second game of the double-header as the earlier semifinal saw Bloemfontein Celtic comfortably beat Baroka FC 3-0 in an encounter that marked the resumption of professional football in the country.

Sundowns and Wits have met on six occasions in cup competitions in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) era with ‘The Brazilians’ winning four and ‘The Clever Boys’ sealing victory in the other two matches.

The last time the two sides played in a cup competition, Wits hammered Sundowns 3-0 in the 2016 MTN8 final.

However, according to Opta Jabu, Pitso Mosimane’s Sundowns are yet to taste defeat at home against Gavin Hunt’s Wits.

Wits have found the back of the net nine times 9 in the Nedbank Cup this season while Sundowns have been solid defensively in the cup so far with three clean sheets – the only side yet to concede a goal in the tournament.

Sundowns starting XI: Onyango, Lukhubeni, Lebusa, Nascimento, Madisha, Coetzee, Mkhulise, Kekana (C), Vilakazi, Zwane, Maboe.

SUBS: Mweene, Lakay, Mkhuma, Mabunda, Meza, Jali, Langerman, Makgalwa, Arendse.

Wits starting XI: Mhlongo, Hlanti, Mkhwanazi, Gordinho, Hlatshwayo (C), Alexander, Nange, Domingo, Sekgota, Hotto, Dzvukamanja.

SUBS: Prince, Eva Nga, Macheke, Ritchie, Macuphu, Khunyedi, Human, Mathebula, September.
