On his eighth league appearance of the 2020/21 season, South African winger Gift Links has finally broken his duck in Denmark.
The winger started on the right side of a three-man attack and played the entire 90 minutes as they won 3-1 against giants Brondby IF on Monday night. The win sees Aarhus move up to fourth spot on the log with 18 points from 11 games in the Superliga.
The visitors remain third with 21 points from 11 games played. Brondby now sit three points ahead of Aarhus who are closing in on the top three.
The hosts started the game on the front foot putting Brondby under pressure from the first whistle, but goalkeeper Marvin Schwabe was unbeatable in the first 36 minutes.
Links then opened the scoring after lashing onto a beautifully floated cross from left back Casper Hojer Nielsen in the 37th minute of the game.
Brondby responded just before half-time as Simon Hedlund headed home after a beautifully delivered ball from the corner by Jesper Lindstrom which ensured that both sides went into the interval with a goal each.
In the second half the visitors came back a much-improved team, but they were made to regret missing their chances after Patrick Mortensen put the hosts ahead with a well hit half-volley from outside the box to make it 2-1.
Substitute Albert Gronbaek took no time to get involved in the game as he lashed onto a beautifully weighed pass from Man of the Match Links who made a beautiful solo run from his own half before laying the ball to Gronbaek who slotted home from an acute angle to give Aarhus all three points on the day.
Links has been a regular member of the starting XI this season and coach David Nielson has shown a lot of faith in the 22-year-old whose confidence must have been boosted by his first league goal this season.
