A few hours before their MTN8 title defence against DStv Premiership newcomers Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM), SuperSport United have announced the signing of midfielder Lucky Mohomi from Mamelodi Sundowns.
Mohomi joins Matsatsantsa on a one-year deal with an option to extend by a further year at the end of the season, the club confirmed on Saturday morning.
Head coach Kaitano Tembo says the 29-year-old Mohomi will add value and experience to his youthful squad.
“We needed more experience in the midfield and I think Mohomi will provide that. He is technically gifted, and he is a player that can score goals and will he bring great strength into our team,” said Tembo.
“Mohomi can help carry the load from players like Teboho [Mokoena], Sipho [Mbule] and Jamie [Webber] and will play a huge role in developing our youngsters going forward. He is a player I have always admired, and it will be good to work with him,” added the SuperSport mentor.
The Tshwane side will take on TTM this afternoon at Thohoyandou Stadium in the opening encounter of the 2020/21 season and MTN8 quarterfinal. Kickoff is scheduled for 15:00.
