Having completed his loan switch from Portuguese Primeira Liga side SC Braga to Pacos Ferreira last month, South African winger Luther Singh made his official debut for his new club on Monday night in their 1-1 stalemate away at Portimonense.
The Stars of Africa graduate started and played the entire 90 minutes for Ferreira who will be happy to have earned a point away from home on match day one.
Last season the 23-year-old winger scored three goals and assisted a further three while on loan at Moreirense.
Here is Singh’s debut in numbers:
Pass accuracy: 88.9%
Number of passes: 15
Shots taken: 3 (two on target)
Fouled: 4 times
Four more South Africans were in action on Monday night with Leicester City’s Khanya Leshabela playing the entire game for their U-23 as they lost 3-0 away at Everton while the trio of Tashreeq Matthews, Luke Le Roux and Keanin Ayer were all in action for Varbergs BoIS who got humbled 3-1 by Helsingborg in Sweden’s top flight.
On Sunday evening Ferreira will host giants Sporting Lisbon at the Mata Real Stadium and Singh is set to make his official home debut for the club.
Last season the Soweto-born attacker had a good start to his season, but an injury that took him out for months dealt his season a big blow, but now having had a full pre-season the 2020/21 season will possibly be his breakthrough season.
