Limpopo-based Safa National Women’s League (SNWL) outfit Ma-Indies head coach Tlou Mabotja has commended his former player and Banyana Banyana star Noko Matlou on her achievements as a female footballer.
Matlou is currently playing for Spanish side SD Eibar, competing in the Primera Iberdrola, the highest level of women’s football in Spain where she plays alongside her fellow countrywoman Thembi Kgatlana.
The 35-year-old scored a brace this past weekend for South Africa against Zambia in an international friendly game.

“I’m very proud of her. Noko [Matlou] came from humble beginnings. I remember her starting with a team called Development FC in Seshego as a novice, but now look where she is,” said Mabotja.
“Despite the fact that this opportunity came a little bit late for her in terms of age, I just hope that she continues to give us at least two or three more years.”
Matlou will be hoping to continue with her fine form when they face Botswana on Tuesday, 13 April in another friendly match at the Bidvest Stadium with the kick-off scheduled for 15:00 in the afternoon.
“She has always been a hard-working girl just trying to be the national team player and now she is playing outside the country earning what she deserves,” he says in conclusion.
