Mamelodi Sundowns forward Lebohang Maboe and Black Leopards midfielder Thabiso Mokoena joined hands to distribute food parcels to more than 20 families at Sedaven, Boschfontein and Ratanda in Heidelberg, Gauteng.
This was part of their efforts to lend a helping hand to those most vulnerable during the national lockdown. “We aim to reach out to more families not only during the lockdown but even in future.” Said Maboe.
“Seeing the smiles from the elderly people touched me and made me realize that it’s not about the size of our contribution but the thought that counts,” added Masandawana player.
Lidoda Duvha anchor-man who has had a decent season with the Limpopo-based side corroborated Maboe’s sentiments.
“The last couple of weeks have been very difficult for a lot of people around the country. We know that while some people are coping with this new normal, others are having a hard time making ends meet, we know this because we come from these communities so we had to do something,” added Mokoena.
The two players are from Ratanda and emphasized that it meant a lot for them to make a contribution and give hope to the hopeless.
