Royal AM coach John Maduka was not very impressed with his side’s opening match of the DStv Premiership campaign.
The KwaZulu Natal side succumbed to a last gasp goal from Mbulelo Wambi against Swallows FC at Dobsonville Stadium, as they registered their first defeat in the first match of the season, with a 1-0 scoreline.
Maduka believes his troops didn’t play the way he wanted and he is hoping that things will improve as the season progresses.
“Our reaction when we had the ball, there was no movement, even in the final third. That’s why I think you know we didn’t play, but we know that it will come back, we’ll get it better and it will come right.”
“I think we need confidence, we must have that confidence you know. When you have confidence you will be able to play.”
“Because if you look at the players that we put in the field of play they are all ball players but we couldn’t even make five passes.
“Which means there is a lack of confidence, it’s the first match of the season and there is a bit of tension and all those, but it will all come right.”
“We must have confidence, we must believe that we can do it, then when you go to the field of play, it becomes easy but if you have lack of confidence it becomes difficult,” added Maduka.
