Riyad Mahrez has been nominated for another award in the English Premier League.
The Algeria national team captain has been nominated for the English Premier League Player of the Month accolade. It’s been some good few weeks for the 30-year-old who receives a second nomination in a space of a month.
In March, he was shortlisted for the Manchester City Player of the Month award alongside Rodrigo Hernandez and Bernado Silva.
The City winger enjoyed a fine month, scoring in City’s 4-1 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers as well as scoring a brace in their victory against Southampton.
So far this season, he has played 40 games in all competitions scoring 10 goals and assisting a further seven strikes.
He faces competition from Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane, West Ham United’s Jesse Lingard, Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette, Leicester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho and Manchester United’s Luke Shaw.
In the recent international break, the former Leicester City star scored as Algeria smashed Botswana 5-0 in their last Afcon 2021 qualifier.
City currently sit on top of the Premier League table with 74 points from 31 games. With seven matches left in the regular season, they need two wins to secure the title. Their closest rivals Manchester United have 60 points from 30 games. Leicester City and Chelsea complete the top four.
Alongside Kevin De Bruyne, Bernado Silva, Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling and Ilkay Gundogan, the attacker has been terrorising defences in the league.
The winner will be announced after the fans across the division have voted.
