JVW FC midfielder Mamello Makhabane who is in camp with the senior women’s national team has voiced her excitement as they prepare for the Aisha Buhari Cup.
The 33-year-old Banyana Banyana player is part of the group that Banyana coach Desiree Ellis will pin her hopes on, in Lagos.
“I’m very excited you know, it’s been long without action (for the national team) in competitive games,” she said.
“So these games will weigh us to know as a player how far are you with yourself and football,” Makhabane said.
Makhabane is adamant there is room for improvement on some aspects of their game as they shift focus from domestic to national duties.
“I think the ladies are doing very well, obviously we’ve been playing in our teams the league is still on.
“Even with fitness we are high there, obviously there is room for improvement but I think everything so far is going well.
“Even the training is going well, the girls are positive and working very hard,” added Makhabane.
