Umsinga United FC coach Sihle Makhanya was jubilant after his side smashed Summerfield Dynamos 5-2 at Chatsworth Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
The young coach whose mandate is to build a team could not hide his happiness after the match as he applauded his charges on the job well done.
The thrilling encounter was a top of the table clash with both teams tied on points after six games in KwaZulu Natal’s ABC Motsepe League.
Makhanya told FARPost that his team executed the game plan very well and they knew what they were doing. “I am very impressed because the boys showed us character and they followed the game plan, which is positive. I told the boys we are playing away from home, we need to be smart in terms of hard tackles, stay behind the ball when we are in possession and keep possession well because we wanted to create chances.
“We scored most of our goals from combination play, which is positive because it’s what we did in training,” said Makhanya.
With the hype of the league and bragging rights of the match they won, the coach is aware of some distractions they might encounter in their next encounter and he knows what to do to keep his players focused.
“I’ll motivate them because we have many games to play and it’s still early in the first round of the season. There are many games still coming, we need to be focused we take this game as a positive result, but we have another game over the weekend away from home also against Wanderers FC,” continued Makhanya.
The former Flagstaff Pondo Chiefs coach wants to bring the best out of players from Umsinga Municipality as they agreed with his employers. “The mandate of the management especially, they said to me I must groom the boys from Umsinga because our focus is to build young boys from local to progress to higher level,” he concluded.
