AmaZulu central midfielder Makhehleni Makhaula has stressed the significance of collecting maximum points for his team when they visit Stellenbosch FC at Daniel Craven Stadium tomorrow.
Usuthu have won their previous five Dstv Premiership matches and they find themselves in third position equal on points with cross town rivals Golden Arrows and six points behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.
Makhaula revealed that they are preparing well for the encounter and are confident of a victory.
“First of all I think our preparations are on point, you could see during the week that motivation is high in the team and I think our game against Stellenbosch will be very important.
“If we win this game we’ll gain points and we’ll be number two on the log so that we can close the gap between us and (Mamelodi) Sundowns whom we are still going to play against,” said Makhaula.
The former Free State Stars midfielder is aware of the challenge of facing Stellies in their own backyard and believes his side needs to be prepared for the battle.
“It’s gonna be a very difficult game so I think we need to prepare ourselves because anything is possible. We went to Venda and came back with three points (against Black Leopards) and it was also difficult, so I think we can do it again tomorrow, we can come back with three points.
“We have been preparing well and the coach has prepared us well, we know everything about Stellenbosch and their weaknesses, ” concluded Makhaula.
