Sekhukhune United head coach MacDonald Makhubedu is optimistic that his troops can replicate the success of Swallows by securing a top eight finish in their first season in the DStv Premiership.
The 2020/21 GladAfrica Championship champions have set a target of surviving relegation.
“We said that we just want to survive,” said the former Baroka and Polokwane City mentor.
“Last season, when I arrived at Sekhukhune, they said they had a three-year plan and we must be in the top eight by the end of the three years.
“Now they are saying, let’s try and finish in the top 10, we mustn’t be fighting relegation. We are not talking about winning the league or finishing top four or anything like that. But we will try our best.
“For me, I’d set a target of top eight; I’d really like to be in the top eight in the first season.”
However, Sekhukhune’s automatic promotion to the Premiership might still hinge on various court outcomes of Royal AM’s legal battle to be reinstated as GladAfrica Championship champions.
