FC Malaga City have secured promotion to the Tercera Division in Spain.
The club defeated Atletico Estacion 3-0 on Sunday night to be crowned as the new champions of the Spanish Primera Andaluva and gain automatic promotion to the fourth division.
It has been an amazing journey for Malaga who were established only four years ago.
The club started in the seventh division, but in just four seasons they have managed to rise up the ranks in the domestic scene.
The project was aimed at bringing back a professional club in the diverse city of Almunecar after the local club FC Almunecar was liquidated a few years ago.
Kwinda Netshitangani joined Malaga at the start of the 2020/21 campaign and established himself as one of the key players in the squad. The attacker scored a brace last week to salvage a point in a 3-3 draw against CD Trabuco.
Malaga needed a win in their last game of the season to secure automatic promotion and they achieved that in fine style.
Netshitangani scored four goals and assisted another five strikes this season. The club will now do battle against some of the oldest clubs in Spain.
Tercera feeds the majority of La Liga and Segunda Liga clubs with some of the most promising talents coming through the division.
