Malesela urges TS Galaxy to continue improving

DStv Premiership newcomers TS Galaxy are still unbeaten after four league games and coach Dan “Dance” Malesela said that he is satisfied with his side’s start to the 2020/21 season.

However, the Galaxy coach has urged his troops to keep improving as they prepare to host Golden Arrows at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Saturday afternoon (15:30).

The Rockets are seventh on the log standings with six points after four rounds of league fixtures.

“It is not such a bad start. It is fairly okay regarding where we are on the log if you look at the gap between us and who is on the top,” said Malesela.

“We know that we could have done better in some of the games. Maybe we should have gotten more points. But still, you just want to appreciate what you have now. That has put us in a position where we are.

“If I look at our target, the Arrows match becomes a must-win. Obviously, because we are playing at home. This will be our second game at home. We need to get those points to reach our targets. We need to win at home at all times. If you win all your home games, you can sit pretty with 45 points.”

Galaxy have only conceded once in four games so far in the league, a defensive record Malesela is proud of.

“As long as you keep clean sheets you are in with a chance of winning matches. You will never lose if you don’t concede. It is just for us to convert what we get in terms of chances. We are creating chances. As long as we don’t concede, it is a good thing,” added Malesela.

“We need to focus on ourselves. We need to improve ourselves and see how we can win matches. That’s why we don’t play on counter-attacks or park the bus. When you do that, that’s where you rely on opponents. We don’t want to do that.”
