Manchester United have reportedly identified Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele as a cheaper alternative to long-term target Jadon Sancho.
United have been consistently linked with Sancho, with Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director now planning for life after the England international.
The 20-year-old has scored 17 goals and provided 16 assists in another brilliant season, but the Bundesliga side are as yet unwilling to budge on their €120million valuation.
And according to The Athletic, United are looking to limit their net spend to £50million this summer, meaning they would need to sell players to be able to bring Sancho in.
The report also claims Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is considering a move for Dembele as a more affordable option.
The Frenchman has had a nightmare time of it at Barcelona, starting just three games in an injury-hit season with the La Liga giants.
He is one of the players Barca are thought to be willing to sell to ease their own financial issues.
The Athletic claim United are willing to sell Alexis Sanchez, Chris Smalling, Jesse Lingard (presumably to Everton), Diogo Dalot, Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones to raise funds.
