Sadio Mane was once again instrumental for Liverpool in the English Premier League.

The Senegalese attacker proved his quality in attack for Jurgen Klopp’s side as they got a much-needed win against Tottenham Hotspur in the league. The champions managed to put three goals past Jose Mourinho’s side on Thursday night.

Liverpool took the lead in first half additional time when Mane found Firmino who slotted home to give the visitors the lead before the break. Two minutes after the break, Liverpool doubled their lead after Hugo Lloris failed to handle a low shot from Mane and pushed it towards right back Trent Alexander-Arnold who buried the rebound into the bottom corner to beat a flat-footed Lloris.

Two minutes later, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg pulled a goal back in fine style for the hosts as he hit a rocket from outside the box to beat an outstretched Allison Becker. Tottenham pushed forward in numbers looking for an equaliser, but it was Liverpool who found the back of the net through Mane who beat Lloris with a well hit rocket into the top corner from close range.

The game had two goals ruled out with Son Heung-Min disallowed a goal in the first half through offside while Salah was also denied a goal in the second half of the encounter.

Mane has scored seven Premier League goals and assisted another three strikes in 19 appearances for the Reds this season as they look to successfully defend their title.

Liverpool have 37 points from 20 league games. Manchester City still sit top of the log followed by Manchester United and Leicester City who sit in third place.

On Sunday, the Reds host a tricky West Ham United at Anfield Stadium. West Ham are just a point behind the champions and a win will see go back to the top five and their hosts go down to fifth spot on the log.
