A phenomenal performance in the opening matches of the 2019/20 season has seen Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Lebogang Manyama gets a well-deserved recall to the national team for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Manyama was brought into the team to replace the injured Themba Zwane.
The 29-year-old has been one of key figures for Amakhosi’s sudden resurrection which see them top of the log and qualifying for the Telkom Knockout semi-finals.
“I’ve been working hard to try and help the team (Chiefs) try to get back to the level that I was you know before the injuries and yah it’s step-by-step – it’s getting better and obviously, try to bring it here (Bafana).
“But also you know most importantly try to help the team you know. Try to help the national team as much as I can and yah, we will see what happens (against Ghana tonight at Cape Coast Stadium).
“I’m grateful to be back after such a long time after some injuries I had but yah I mean it’s part of life you never give up you keep going,” said Manyama.
“The guys have adapted very well to the conditions here in Ghana and have accepted everything that comes our way. You know how it is here, it’s never easy so you have to be strong mentally and the squad that we have I think the mentality is very strong.”
The match starts at 21:00 (SA time).
