Zaidi Sanusi and Moussa Marega featured for FC Porto as they progressed to the quarter-finals of the Uefa Champions League.
The Portuguese giants overcame Juventus in dramatic fashion after fighting hard to score a goal late in extra time to go through thanks to the away goal rule.
Porto came into the game with a 2-1 lead from the first leg and needed to maintain or better that result to go through to the last eight. Sergio Oliveira opened the score sheet with a well taken penalty in the 16th minute of the game to give the visitors an early advantage in Turin.
Sergio Conceicao’s side went into half time in front, but four minutes into the second half Fererico Chiesa equalised for the Italian champions with a well placed shot into the far post after some good work by Cristiano Ronaldo inside the box.
Mehdi Teremi got a silly red card after he received a second yellow card. The Iranian forward kicked the ball in retaliation to a refereeing decision in the 54th minute and the referee sent him for an early shower.
Nine minutes later, Chiesa was on hand to give Andrea Pirlo’s side the lead with a towering header from close range to make it 2-1. The home side committed men forward in search of an equalised, but it was the visitors who found the back of the net in the 115th minute of extra time to swing the tie around, 2-2.
Adrian Rabiot scored the winner for Juventus with three minutes of extra time left on the clock, but it wasn’t enough for the Italian giants as they got knocked out of the competition.
The tie ended with an aggregate score of 4-4 with Porto progressing through the away goal rule having won the first left by two goals to one.
Sanusi lasted 71 minutes on the left back position while Marega was substituted after 105 minutes as the Portuguese side stunned Juventus in their own backyard.
They will now shift their focus to Sunday’s Primeira Liga clash with Pacos Ferreira. The champions currently sit in third position on the table and trail log-leaders Sporting Lisbon by 10 points after 22 league games played.
Elsewhere, Erling Haaland and Moroccan striker Yousef En-Nesyri both scored a brace as Borussia Dortmund drew 2-2 with Sevilla.
The result meant Dortmund went through to the quarter-finals of the competition with an aggregate score of 5-4. The German side won the first leg by three goals to two.
