Maritzburg United will be inspired by the exploits of other KwaZulu-Natal teams who have received accolades in DStv Premiership this season.
Both ‘Abafana Bes’thende’ and ‘Usuthu’ have already been to the podium this season after some incredible collective and individual performances.
Last month impressive Golden Arrows were crowned Q2 winners for their recent fine form in the league, in which they accumulated 16 points in 7 games. On Monday, AmaZulu FC coach Benni McCarthy and defender Thapelo Xoki were confirmed as Coach of the Month and Goal of the Month winners respectively for January/February.
These mini accolades will inspire ‘The Team of Choice’ to improve their league form as they languish in they have been in the bottom half of the log take this season.
Maritzburg have already changed coaches this season with the departure of Eric Tinkler and the return of Ernst Miderndorp for his fourth stint with the team.
However, they have found the going tougher in their quest to climb up the log. After bowing out of the Nedbank Cup at the hands of Orlando Pirates, they will look to collect maximum points against Kaizer Chiefs at home on Wednesday.
Midderndop’s charges will pin their hope on ‘Chiefs slayer’ Judas Mosiamedi to cause yet another upset at Harry Gwala Stadium.
A victory tomorrow evening against Amakhosi might just be what Maritzburg need to improve their log position.
