Maritzburg teach the Students a lesson

Thabiso Kutumela’ well-taken goal on the stroke of halftime saw Maritzburg United beat Bidvest Wits 1-0 and walk away with all the 3 important points on Wednesday evening at Bidvest Stadium.

It was Maritzburg’s 7th victory of the season and the first against Wits in the Absa Premiership since 2014.

“Great 3 points away from home at Wits…I am very proud of the boys, Kutumela has been absolutely phenomenal for us this season,” said Eric Tinkler.

“Our build play, combination and discipline was exceptional. We soaked up a lot of pressure but defensively we were top class, “added Tinkler.

Meanwhile, Wits who are in the race for the league title suffered their second consecutive loss with Gavin Hunt stating that they were poor on the night.

“No lesson (learned), defeat yes but no lesson, we were poor, “said a rather disappointed Wits coach.
