Marumo Gallants suspend three players

DStv Premiership club Marumo Gallants have confirmed the suspension of three of their players with immediate effect.

The three players are midfielder Tlou Masegela, striker Aluwani Nedzamba and goalkeeper Simon Mamudzidi (Main picture, on the left).

FARPost has seen the notice of suspension addressed to each player dated 29 September 2021.

“You are hereby suspended from the club activities with immediate effect due to the seriousness of the allegations. Charges and date of the hearing will be communicated to you soon,” read the suspension letter.

The club did not reveal the allegations or charges to the players.

But this publication has gathered that the players were suspended after voicing their concerns regarding salary cuts that they didn’t agree to.

The players are believed to have also approached the South African Football Players Union (SAFPU) for intervention and this is something that didn’t sit well with the club’s hierarchy over what they say is an ‘internal’ issue.

Gallants released a statement late on Wednesday night confirming the latest developments but couldn’t divulge the reasons.

“Tholang Masegela, Aluwani Nedzamba, and Simon Mamudzidi, were suspended following a meeting called by senior management to address individual players today. Management will not discuss the reasons of the suspension now as this is still an internal matter,” the club said.
