AmaZulu FC defender Tsepo Masilela resurfaced at Usuthu late last year as he looked to revive his career.
The experienced full-back arrived at the Durban-based side in October 2019 having been clubless for 16 months.
This was after he was released by Kaizer Chiefs in June 2018 having made only four appearances in the 2017/18 Absa Premiership season.
Masilela worked his socks off while on trial at Usuthu and he earned a contract with the club in November 2019 after impressing the technical team.
Masilela made his debut for AmaZulu when he came on as a substitute during the league clash with Chippa United on November 9 at the Princess Magogo Stadium.
The former Bafana Bafana international’s presence pushed Mabiliso to work even harder and the 21-year-old full-back caught the eye in December 2019.
Mabiliso helped Usuthu keep two successive clean sheets against Maritzburg United and Black Leopards, and also secure a win over Bloemfontein Celtic.
However, Masilela managed to regain his place in the team following the festive break and the Witbank-born player never looked back as he revived his career.
The former Getafe CF player showed his quality during AmaZulu’s narrow defeats to Lamontville Golden Arrows and Chippa United and the draw with Cape Town City.
Before producing a solid performance in Usuthu’s victory over league log leaders, Kaizer Chiefs in March 2020 as the team kept an impressive clean sheet in Johannesburg.
This was just before the season was suspended indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic and Masilela will be keen to pick up where he left off when the campaign resumes.
