Free State ABC Motsepe League outfit Mathaithai FC have cleared the air about the club sale, citing that these are just widespread rumours and speculations.
Mathaithai are newbies in the ABC League, having secured promotion to the South African football third tier in the 2019/20 season.
The club’s hierarchy made it known that the team is not for sale and they are here to compete.
“We have realised attempts to destabilise our team with baseless rumours. We confirm without a doubt that Mathaithai is not for sale,” said the statement.
“Our supporters must be aware that the team started very well in Nedbank Cup Preliminary Games and now with the league games even though it’s still very early so there will be people out there trying to destabilise the progress we have made as a team.
“The chairman, management, technical team and players are hard at work to push the goals and vision of our constantly growing team (brand).
“We would like to thank our sponsors (OneEnergy, Ikhwezi and Interstate Busline) for their continued support to our dream, also thank our technical team and players for always believing in our vision and mission.”
