The MTN8 defending champions SuperSport United have bolstered their squad with some exciting players ahead of the new campaign.
‘Matsatsantsa’ have announced the signing of former Bidvest Wits duo Mpho Mathebula and SA U-20 international Keenan Phillips on two-year deals.
The pair starred in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge (MDC) over the past two seasons before joining the first team during the historic Premier Soccer League (PSL) Bio Bubble, where they helped Wits finish third in the final episode of the Absa Premiership.
The Tshwane giants also finally confirmed the signings of former Stellenbosch star Iqraam Rayners and Zimbabwe international George Chigova.
Chigova joined SuperSport in the 2014/15 season and moved on a season later joining Polokwane City, playing almost 150 PSL games in his five-year spell at the club.
Rayners, meanwhile, played a key role to help ‘Stellies’ gain promotion in the 2018/19 Glad Africa Championship season scoring 19 goals. The hitman also went on to score five league goals in his teams’ maiden season in South Africa’s top-flight.
SuperSport also launched their new Umbro jersey for the 2020/21 DStv Premiership season on Thursday.
In a statement, the club said: “The new jersey launch was held at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville, Tshwane. The new kit was paraded by the ‘Matsatsantsa’ senior players and student models from the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT).
“The jersey colours are in the United’s traditional royal blue for the home matches, red for the games on the road and the alternative strip.
“Players who paraded the kit included skipper Ronwen Williams, Bradley Grobler, Teboho Mokoena and the Zimbabwean international Kuda Mahachi.”
