Richards Bay FC chairman Sifiso ‘Jomo’ Biyela has reiterated that star player Khanyisa Mayo is focused on playing for the club, amid interest from PSL clubs.
Biyela also revealed that there are other players that are wanted by different clubs, but their focus now is the playoffs.
Mayo was very instrumental in the Natal Rich Boyz’s third place finish in the GladAfrica Championship which subsequently saw them qualify for the promotion/relegation playoffs.
Biyela told FARPost that there are teams that have started sniffing around his players, including Mayo and Austin Dube, who’s wanted by Kaizer Chiefs.
“Right now people can talk about Mayo, he is not the only one who is wanted by other clubs but he has a contract with us, so we are not worried about the interest in him.
“The only thing that we are worried about is to play our matches in the playoffs,” he said.
“Our players are ready for all the matches, we are taking each game serious and we want to win, that’s all I can say,” said Biyela.
Richards Bay have already lost their first match in the playoffs against Chippa United and they will be hoping to rectify that when they face Royal AM today at Chatsworth Stadium.
There is also a possibility that Royal AM might not honour the match, because of court cases which could result in them forfeiting the game and Richards Bay getting three points.
