Dstv sponsorship manager Fetsi Mbele has applauded the Premier Soccer League for delivering the entertainment of football in their first season of partnership.
Mbele was speaking ahead of a much-anticipated Durban Derby between Golden Arrows and AmaZulu, which will take place at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium later today.
He told FARPost that the excitement and love for football is what brings joy to them as sponsors.
“The amount of love and support really is testament that football is loved in South Africa, Dstv is in the right space and we are with the right partners in PSL.
“We also have teams that are really hungry for it, I think this weekend we’ll really see that, it’s number two against number three going head to head. The league is still up for grabs, so we are very excited.”
“I think for the fans as well at their homes, they want to get close to the players, I think the partnership of PSL and Dstv was really a great one because we bring the best entertainment to the best league in Africa,” said Mbele.
He further emphasized the excitement that comes with the business end of the league, where every match is important for different reasons.
“With a few weeks to go it can still be anyone’s title. For us that is exciting as much most of our plans were put aside in light of what is happening in the country (Covid-19 regulations), I think we’ve made the most of it, in light of where we are.”
“For the weekend I think the journalists will cover the matches quite well, as they have done throughout the season and we thank them very much for giving us that coverage,” added Mbele.
