Mbombela United are second from the bottom in the GladAfrica league flirting with relegation while in the Nedbank Cup they defeated Absa Premiership side Cape Town City to reach round of 16.

In the round of 16, Mbombela will face fellow GladAfrica side Real Kings. Meanwhile on Saturday they will be up against the high-flying Swallows Fc side at Dobsonville Stadium as they look to move away from the danger relegation zone.

Chairman of Mbombela Oupa Matsebula tells FARPost that it’s good that they are doing well in the Nedbank Cup because that will boost their confidence and morale in the league.

“At times it could be confusing to play in both few cups and the league but for us I think it will work well for us. At this point we need every game time that we can have so that the boys remain focused on playing, “said Matsebula.

“After beating Cape Town City, the morale is high, and we want to continue from there. Resting won’t help us right now,” added the chairman.

“Sometimes when you win and then rest the players, they could lose focus and momentum but if we can continue in the Nedbank Cup it will help us maintain the focus.

On the Swallows game Matsebula said they are going to Johannesburg for a win. “We have to win this game. It’s a must. We have to win almost all the games that we are going to play starting with Swallows.

“We know they are in good form, but I think we need these three points more than they do. Every game will be a cup final for us from now on, “concluded an optimistic Matsebula.
