Newly signed Bizana Pondo Chiefs winger Deolin Mekoa is delighted to be back on the field after spending a lot of time inactive.
The left-footed player made his debut for Pondo Chiefs as they welcomed Cape Umoya United at King Zwelithini Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. Speaking after the 0-0 stalemate with Cape Umoya, the speedy winger revealed that he is delighted to play football again though his fitness level is not up to scratch.
“It’s a great feeling you know my first game back after such a long time. The match fitness is not there, not up to standard but I think it will get better in the coming days you know,” said Mekoa.
The Indomitable Lions of Skomplaz will welcome the point as they look to avoid defeats in their quest to maintain the GladAfrica Championship status.
“The position we are in, we are trying to fight to get out of it, I think it’s a good team we’ll take the point in today’s game. It’s a team that plays good football as you saw in today’s game but unfortunately the result didn’t come our way, ” continued Mekoa.
The former Maritzburg United winger reckons they need to take their chances in the upcoming matches and their focus is on the next away match against University of Pretoria on Saturday.
“I think we should’ve taken our chances you know, we had good chances and our goalkeeper saved us today.
“We’ve got another game on Saturday we have to think about that and we must get maximum three points if not three, a point will be good for us,” concluded Mekoa.
