Kaizer Chiefs head coach Ernest Middendorp has warned his troops not to get carried away by last night’s convincing 4-0 win over struggling Stellenbosch.
The “Phefeni Glamour Boys” produced a stellar performance against the side from the winelands to claim all 3 points while also recording their 3rd straight win in Cape Town this season (Chiefs beat Cape Town City twice in the League and Telkom KO last 16).
“Let’s be humble and healthy in our preparation and our reflection,” cautioned Middendorp.
“Knowing where we are coming from – we are coming from position 9 out of last season where we didn’t win anything. But we worked hard during pre-season, we had to make some changes, basic changes like transition and and 1 on 1 situations when we attack and when we are defending,” he said.
“A high number of key players performed to the standard today, without mentioning any names and that is what you want to see. We are definitely going with a lot of joy on our flight back to Johannesburg.”
The 4-0 drubbing of Stellenbosch was Amakhosi’s biggest win in the Absa Premiership since 2015 when they beat Free State Stars at FNB Stadium.
