Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp is not overly concerned about talk of other Absa Premiership teams closing in on Amakhosi in the League race.
Chiefs were at some stage 11 points ahead, but a win for Mamelodi Sundowns over Bloemfontein Celtic at Loftus Stadium (19:30) tonight would cut their lead to just 4 points.
Middendorp, however, is not concerned at all.
“Your discussion about 11 points and so on was always rubbish,” Middendorp told the media
“It was always rubbish because a team like Bidvest Wits would be even more closer (if they played equal number of games).
“Now, if they win their remaining games (the ones in hand), they would be three/four points behind – that was always the case,” he said.
Wits are three matches behind and if they win all, they would get to 42 points, while Chiefs top the standings with 45 points.
“I actually never got carried away,” insisted Middendorp.
“Please, be honest and wait until everybody is on the same number (of games) and then we can start doing something.”
