After it emerged last week that South African U-23 captain Tercious Malepe has been registered by Ukrainian Premier League side FC Minaj for the 2020/21 season, the club has now revealed that the former Orlando Pirates defender has penned a three-year deal.
Malepe joins Minaj at the back of a loan spell from Port Elizabeth-based DStv Premiership side Chippa United, where he played 40 league games in two seasons.
The former ‘Amajita’ captain was nurtured at Mayfair before going out on loan to Moroka Swallows, Ajax Cape Town and recently Chippa United.
The 23-year-old also brings in a lot of international experience to Minaj having played for South Africa in the 2017 U-20 FIFA World Cup and the recent CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) where he captained SA as the team qualified for the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo.
Malepe joins a host of South African youngsters who have made the move abroad in recent years with his U-23 teammates already playing first-team football in clubs across Europe.
