Miya looks up to former Bafana coaches

Ethekwini Coastal FC coach Sikhumbuzo Miya is inspired by former South Africa senior national team coach Ephraim ‘Shakes’ Mashaba, for his exploits during his last tenure with the national team.

Miya who coaches in the ABC Motsepe KwaZulu-Natal League says that Mashaba’s work speaks volume.

“I have always liked Shakes Mashaba how he managed to change that Bafana set up in those previous years. He is my role model and I have been looking up to him, pity he is no longer in the game now but the way he came and changed the mentality of Bafana players really impressed me”, said Miya.

The outspoken coach also showed admiration to the arrogance shown by another former Bafana mentor Pitso Mosimane, whom he regards as ‘the greatest coach’ in South Africa.

“I can never leave (him out), he is ambitious, his arrogance and the way he talks I like that and it is how you should be at times, when you try to be soft with these boys they will not give you results, they frustrate you every time so I love his arrogance,” concluded Miya.

Miya will have a mammoth task to inspire his side to victory when they take on XI Experience FC on Monday midday at 12:00.
