Cape Town City FC have confirmed that Thami Mkhize and Abbubaker Mobara are COVID-19 free and they are back in training.
The duo missed out on Bafana Bafana’s squad which played Sao Tome in a double-header in the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers, as they tested positive for COVID-19 prior to the national team’s camp.
“Thami Mkhize and Abbubaker Mobara have successfully recovered from COVID-19. The duo are back in training in preparation for Bloemfontein Celtic clash,” said the Citizens in a statement.
Mkhize boasts excellent pace and awareness, and he is unquestionably one of the best right backs in the top-flight.
Meanwhile, Mobara has become an undisputed starter for the Cape Town-based outfit, having played all of his club’s fixtures this season. The return of the duo will boost Jan Olde Riekerink’s side in terms of team selection.
The Citizens will lock horns with Phunya Sele Sele in the DStv Premiership on Sunday at Cape Town Stadium. The Kick-off is set for 15h30 in the afternoon.
