Mkhonza: Every team is a closed book

Umvoti FC coach Doctor Mkhonza is aware of the challenge his side will face in the ABC Motsepe League national play-offs, starting on Monday 28 June in Mpumalanga.

The KZN ABC Motsepe League champions are going to the play-offs for the second consecutive year and they will meet new teams. They will face Mangaung United (Free State) and Glendene United (Western Cape).

Mkhonza told FARPost that they will approach each match with the respect it deserves, though they want to win this year.

“All the teams are there on merit, they won their streams and won their deciders in their respective provinces.

“We don’t know these teams and they don’t know us, every team is a closed book. So we’ll have to give them the respect they deserve and fight to win.

“Our goal is to qualify for the final, so we’ll have to be at out best throughout the play-offs if we want to be there,” said Mkhonza.

The KZN side has bolstered the squad and they have experienced players who have been in the national play-offs before.

“Our squad is strong and the players are hungry and they know that we were here last year and we were just unlucky.

“I believe in my players and I trust them, this platform is for them to qualify for professional football and I know they can do it.

“We have the support of KZN people and the management has been good, so we just have to do the job and make everyone happy,” added Mkhonza.
