Linda Mntambo has earned admiration for always wearing his heart on his sleeve whenever he is given a run in Orlando Pirates colours.
He might not be playing regularly but his high work-rate and the positive energy which he brings to the Buccaneers has been praised by head coach Josef Zinnbauer.
At the weekend, Mntambo, affectionately known as “Figo” came off the bench to score the second goal for Pirates against archrivals Kaizer Chiefs to send the club to the MTN8 final where they will face Bloemfontein Celtic on 12 December.
“We know Linda and you know Linda; he is a guy who gives his all for the club (and) he gives all for the squad,” said the German mentor.
“He does all the work that he can do and now he got a little bit of success for the work he has done in the last weeks. We know what he has, his skills and we know what he can do.
“Yes, right, maybe he is the best guy in the team for motivation, for good words, for good spirit, he makes so many things before the game for us, it’s unbelievable,” added Zinnbauer.
Since joining Pirates back in 2018 from Chippa United, Mntambo has only made over 25 appearances for the Soweto giants.
“But it is not always possible that he [Mntambo] comes in, that he can play from the start. He is not the only one, we have lots of players with good spirits.
“Linda is one of the best but all players have to accept when they are not in the squad or on the bench,” concluded the Pirates coach.
