SuperSport United CEO Stanley Matthews has confirmed that Thabo Qalinge and Thabo Mnyamane are set to be released by the club at the end of the season.
Mnyamane, who joined SuperSport in July 2016 from University of Pretoria (Tuks), has made 63 League appearances for the club scoring 16 gosls, while Qalinge has made 5 appearances for Matsatsantsa a Pitori this season.
SuperSport United have confirmed that captain Dean Furman is leaving for the UK.
Speaking to the media Matthews explained that some players are set to be released by the club.
“There are players who are on their way out. We just wanted to wait and give a chance to everybody, so that when their option date came in May, we could exercise,” he stated.
The current season of PSL is till suspended at the moment, while still waiting for a final decision from the PSL executive committee. At the moment there is no indication when the league will resume.
“But it is now clear that football won’t be played before the end of May and not before the end of June. At that time, certain contracts would have come to an end. The sad reality is that I have to make that call now,” Matthews added.
“Players like Thabo Mnyamane, Thabo Qalinge and Dean Furman who you know is returning to the UK are not going to be retained. When their contract expire in June, they will be free agents.”
