Mo Salah equals Steven Gerrard’s goal tally at Liverpool

Mohamed Salah has equalled Steven Gerrard’s most Premier League goals for Liverpool following their 2-1 defeat to Manchester United last night at Old Trafford.

Salah scored the consolation goal for the Reds in the 81st minute of the mouthwatering showdown.

The Egyptian frontman is the second player in history to score against the Red Devils in four successive Liverpool visits across all competitions after Dick Forshaw in 1925/26 and again in 1926/27.

Mo, as he is popularly known within the football cycles, has scored seven goals in his last four appearances against Erik ten Hag’s side.

Now, Salah has matched Gerrard’s 120 goals as the club’s second-highest scorer in the history of the Premier League, with Robbie Fowler top of the scoring charts with 128 goals.

To put a cherry on top, the 30-year-old goal poacher has also become the club’s outright leading scorer in all games against United with 10 goals.

Liverpool came into this clash unbeaten in the last eight league meetings, with five wins and three draws since March 2018.

It goes without saying that Salah’s scoring touch certainly hasn’t deserted him in the new campaign, either.

The star forward continues to offer his club an extra attacking dimension that is especially notable when he is missing. He has become Jurgen Klopp’s most trusted and consistent attacking option since the departure of Sadio Mane, and he is proving that he is a rare source of good cheer to Liverpool despite their slow start to the season.

Salah is a prototype for the modern striking force as he shoulders responsibility and rarely disappoints.

Overall, he scored 159 goals across all competitions for his side from 258 games and weighed in with 64 assists.
