Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Aubrey Modiba is determined to cause an upset for his former club in the first Tshwane Derby of the season.
Bafana Ba Style will battle it out with SuperSport United in the DStv Premiership clash at Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium on Saturday at 15:00 in the afternoon.
The 25-year-old joined Masandawana at the beginning of the 2020/21 Premier Soccer League (PSL) campaign on a 5-year deal from Matsatsantsa.
Modiba insists he must keep working hard so he can add value to the club, having played three league games in a row thus far.
“It is good to be part of a team like Mamelodi Sundowns, a team that has so many talented players. I was happy to play three games in a row but it doesn’t stop there. I must just keep working hard so I can add value to the club, there are elements where I feel I need to improve and get to understand everyone. We have been winning games and we just need to keep doing that and get maximum points in all the games we will play,” he adds.
The Brazilians are currently sitting on the summit of the PSL log standings with 24 points from 10 outings.
The Polokwane-born left-winger acknowledged he’s expecting a difficult encounter against SuperSport, citing that they are a good side with an experienced coach.
“Interesting game this weekend against my former team, they are a good side and they have been doing well also scoring goals. If you look at the past two games they have played they have scored five goals. They have a good coach, I know him, he always wants nothing but a win and as you can see the position they are in on the log standings,” Modiba explained.
“I am looking forward to the game and hopefully, we win the game as it is not nice to lose. The Tshwane Derby is never easy but we are going there to win the game on Saturday.”
Modiba is a triumph for perseverance and luxury to watch when on song.
