After playing for Brentford in a practice match against Portsmouth on Sunday, South African midfielder Kamohelo Mokotjo feels he is in the right path to full fitness.
The midfielder spoke in a post match interview and reflected on the journey towards full fitness.
Speaking about his display in the 1-1 draw the Bafana Bafana anchor said: “It felt good I feel a lot of refreshed energy out there so yeah it feels good to be back getting game time it’s been steadily coming up, but I feel I need to step it up more to play with more intensity.”
The coronavirus came at a time when Mokotjo thought his season was over after he was ruled out due to injury but the break in the season gave him a lifeline and he feels this was great for him.
“Yeah this gave me a big chance and with my (contract) extension it shows how much the club values my importance. It’s good that we had the break because I have come back with a very fresh perspective on what I want for myself and how I can influence some of the games,” continued Mokotjo.
“The break gave me time to reflect on everything, but the negatives helped because as I said I’ve come back with a fresh perspective so I look forward to getting some game time and looking forward to proving myself again.”
Mokotjo made the bench for Brentford as they grabbed the Derby bragging rights with a 2-0 win over neighbours Fulham and the midfielder feels he must keep going.
“I need to keep knocking on the door the competition is healthy no player must be comfortable we push each other which also gets the best out of me.”
