Eswatini side Moneni Pirates have confirmed the passing of top official Sithembiso Hlandze.
The long-serving official is believed to have died during the festive season due to an undisclosed illness.
Pirates Marketing and Communications Officer Mhlonishwa Motsa confirmed the tragic news and revealed that they were still reeling from the loss.
“Yes, we have heard about the demise of the legend in the ranks of Moneni Pirates,” Motsa told the media.
“He was one of a kind. We are shocked because we could not have foreseen a future without him. He had his own way of exerting influence behind the scenes where attention is minimal, yet the impact of his contribution was very huge.
“A passionate Buccaneer is gone. It feels like a rib is torn. Sithembiso was very passionate about Moneni Pirates such that even his colleagues at work, EPTC can attest to that. He was always available to help the team at any given day and time, a willing horse,” he said.
“Pirates are at loss for words of the untimely departure of a pillar. We dip our flag in honour of a Buccaneer who dedicated his resources and time to the club even in hard times.
“At these difficult times, we would like to send our deepest condolences to family, relatives, colleagues and friends. A baobab is gone. Rest in peace Mkhulandle,” added Motsa.
