It does not rain but pours for Eastern Cape side Bizana Pondo Chiefs as their intact home record came to an end at the hands of Royal AM.
The Indomitable Lions of Skomplaz came second best as they lost 2-0 at King Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Pondo Chiefs came to this match at the back of a 1-0 defeat to Sekhukhune United at Makhulong Stadium on Wednesday. The result concludes a two months winless period for Julius Dube’s troops, who last tasted a victory on Valentines Day when they dispatched Jomo Cosmos at home.
The ABC Motsepe play-offs winners have thus far experienced baptism of fire in their maiden GladAfrica Championship campaign. They have won three out of 18 matches, losing 10 and drawing five times, leaving them on position 15 on the log table.
They have already parted ways with coach Tsepho Motsoeneng who led them to their playoffs triumph. It seems like the signing of former PSL darlings in Abia Nale and Masibusane Zongo has not helped their situation.
The side will welcome the international break to reignite their energies and refocus their priorities for the next 12 games of the season. Dube will also look to repay the faith shown to him by club management and win the hearts of Eastern Cape side’s supporters.
