With the Absa Primieriship approaching the festive break , one can’t argue that the first half of the season was centered around the decisions made by referees on match days.
The most recent debate comes from the weekend’s Telkom Knockout match between Maritzburg United and Mamelodi Sundowns, where Erik Tinkler’s troops were denied a goal in the dying stages of the game.
Sundowns won 2-1 to win the cup and replays have shown that the linesman made the correct decision to deny Judas Moseamedi an equaliser at the death.
With the frustration of coaches and players building up, Downs star Thapelo Morena feels if the Video Assistant Referee could be implemented in the League, it would serve a great purpose in correcting mistakes made.
“If it possible, It can be introduced and it’s the most important thing but for us …everyone makes mistakes and can learn from those mistakes,” Morena pleaded.
“I think for us we just have to look at our own side. Everybody has to learn and look at where they can improve.”
