Motlhalo continues to shine in Sweden


It is the international break, but some leagues continued in Europe this past weekend with a few of Mzansi’s stars involved with their respective clubs.

Banyana Banyana star Linda Motlhalo stole the show with a late winner for Djurgaden while Refiloe Jane continued to play an important role for AC Milan in Serie A. 


The KZN academy graduate started and played another 90 minutes for Portuguese Campeonato side Pinhalnovense as they got a 3-1 convincing win over Aljustrelense. The 20-year-old left back has been a regular starter for the club since making a switch in the recent transfer window. 



Abrahams played 72 minutes for KV Westerlo as they drew 1-1 with Club Brugge II in the Belgian Proximus League. Westerlo has been struggling to get consistent results over the past few weeks and have won only one of their last four games in the division. 


The 23-year-old midfielder lasted just over an hour for Cova Di Piedade as they got hammered 5-1 by Estoril Praia in the Portuguese second division on Saturday. 


He’s hit the ground running in Portugal’s third tier after scoring a beautiful brace for Espinho in their thrilling 3-3 draw against A.D Sanjoanense in the Portuguese Campeonato on Friday night.



The Banyana Banyana midfielder was substituted in additional time for Djurgarden DFF in their 2-0 victory against Uppsala in the Swedish Damallsvenskan. Motlhalo sealed the victory with a beautiful goal for Djurgaden in the 78th minute as Djurgaden moved up to 9th place in the league. 


Schutte was a 56th minute substitute for CD Mirandes as they narrowly lost 2-1 against Almeria in the Spanish second division on Saturday evening. Schutte has been slowly making a return since recovering from an ankle injury. 


The AC Milan anchor played yet another 90 minutes for the club as they edged rivals AS Roma 1-0 in Serie A to stay second in the league, three points behind Juventus who sit top of the table after 8 games. 


The former Bafana Bafana defender was a second half substitute for Barrow as they drew 1-1 against Cambridge United in the English League two on Saturday afternoon.
