Bidvest Wits forward Gift Motupa remains hopeful of making it back into the Bafana Bafana set up in the near future.

Motupa has been one of the consistent performers for the Students for the past two seasons and is also the current club joint top scorer in the League with 5 goals alongside    Deon Hotto.

The 25-year-old was overlooked by former Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

His last cap came in June 2018 during the COSAFA Cup.

“I don’t take it like that (that he is being overlooked) because I still believe my chance will come,” he told FARPost.

“What I have to do is that I have to keep on doing well and working hard, there are some situations that I cannot change so my job is to work hard, score goals, do well then the rest will follow,” said the former Baroka and Orlando Pirates player.

Motupa adds that the PSL ‘break’ which was caused by the National lockdown came at a time where he was starting to pick up form.

“Nature is nature no one is in control of anything and it’s just a situation that caught each and everyone by surprise but I was pleased with my performance (before the forced-break) and I was looking forward to even get much better,” he added.

Motupa has 51 club career goals in over 158 since turning professional in 2013.
