Mphahlele urges local clubs to support local brands

Baroka chairman has challenged other Limpopo teams such as Black Leopards to follow suit and use local apparel brands for their playing kit.

Bakgaga have been kitted by Monflair since 2018, a company owned by two Black individuals, Mr Puledi Manamela and Ms Mahlako Mahapa, who hail from Limpopo.

Clubs such as Marumo Gallants and Polokwane City have also entered into partnerships with one of the fastest-growing brands in local football, and Mphahlele says it is important for local teams to empower their own.

“Hopefully Black Leopards will also wear Monflair come next year,” he said.

“So, all the teams of this province will follow us and wear Monflair and that will be nice because we are empowering our own brother by doing so.

“People must buy Monflair because the more we buy Monflair, the more the company gets stronger. They (Monflair) told me that, next year, they want to make the (top four) tournament even much bigger. So basically, it will be only Monflair teams that come here and compete and to see who is number one,” he added.

Other clubs in the Premier Soccer League that wears Monflair include Chippa United, Free State Stars, Pretoria Callies and TS Sporting.
