The race for the Absa Premiership league Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot Award is heating up with Orlando Pirates striker Gabadinho Mhango leading the race with 14 goals at the moment.
He is closely followed by four players in Samir Nurkovic of Kaizer Chiefs, Golden Arrows’ Knox Mutizwa, Highlands Park’s Peter Shalulile and Bongi Ntuli of AmaZulu all at 11 goals.
Bradley Grobler of SuperSports United is on 10 goals.
Former PSL top goal scorer and former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Katlego “Killer” Mphela has told FARPost that he thinks that Mhango stands a better chance of winning the top goal scorer this season than the other strikers.
“I think Gabadinho has a chance judging by his form and has been banging in goals,” commented Mphela.
“And I think the way the team plays, they play around him. With the games that are coming he will still get a couple of goals. He will get to 17 or 18 goals so I will go with Gabadinho,” observed the former Bafana Bafana striker.
