With Bizana Pondo Chiefs relegated from the GladAfrica Championship, to the ABC Motsepe League, meaning the mission for coach Clinton Larsen was unaccomplished, the club has confirmed they will release him.
Pondo Chiefs chairman Nkosinathi Mqokiyana told FARPost that Larsen is a PSL material and their moving to ABC Motsepe League in the Eastern Cape wouldn’t be suitable for him.
“If our team was from the neighborhood, coach Larsen has availed himself, he likes to work with this group that is eager to learn, that is so hungry,” said the chairman.
“Obviously, we cannot move a professional coach such as Clinton’s calibre. He is a PSL coach by the way, he just came to assist so taking him down to Eastern Cape I think it would be a hard one.
“Remember in the Eastern Cape, from our area we still don’t have a proper facility to play the kind of football that Mr Larsen would want us to play,” continued Mqokiyana.
“It’s better here in Durban, because we sometimes hire these fields, it is what it is. We can’t move down with him, but obviously he loves football he wants to teach these boys.”
Larsen’s last match in charge of Pondo Chiefs was their 3-0 victory against Uthongathi FC at Princess Magogo Stadium, to close the season on a high note.
