Chipolopolo midfielder Enock Mwepu is expected to leave Redbull Salzburg in the coming weeks.
Mwepu has been an influential figure at the Redbull Arena helping Salzburg to four Bundesliga titles and three Austrian cups in the past four seasons.
According to reports in Austria, ‘Computer’ has attracted interest from English Premier League side Leeds United and Germany’s Borussia Dortmund.
Mwepu is currently priced at 13 million Euros, which is a big bargain for the quality that the 2017 U20 Africa Cup of Nations winner possesses.
The move to Germany seems most likely after his former coach Marco Rose agreed to join Dortmund as head coach. The Borussia Mönchengladbach man is replacing Edin Terzic at the Signal Iduna Park for the coming campaign.
Mwepu is among five players who were already touted for moves by the Austrian local media. Patson Daka, Rasmus Kristensen, Mergïm Berisha and Andre Ramalho, who has already joined PSV Eindhoven complete the quintet.
The 23-year-old was excused from the Chipolopolo Boys squad for the June friendly games by coach Milutin Sredojevic to sort out his future.
In the 2020/21 campaign, the anchor scored five goals and assisted another solo strike in 29 games for Salzburg. Since making his debut in 2017, ‘Computer’ has featured in over 80 Bundesliga games and played in both the Europa League and Champions League.
Zambia have been rebuilding a squad for the future and since making his debut in 2017, Mwepu has established himself as one of the key players in the national team.
