Zambian midfielder Enock Mwepu has received yet another award nomination in Austria as his good season continues with giants Red Bull Salzburg.

The 22-year-old’s solo goal against Lask Linz in the UEFA Europa League has earned him a nomination for the Sky Sports Austria Bundesliga Goal of the Month.

Mwepu has been receiving a lot of recognition for his performances in both the domestic and continental fronts this season. A week ago the midfield maestro was voted as Salzburg’s Player of the Month beating some of the most talented players to the award.

His beautiful goal rounded off a dominant performance by Salzburg who ran out 3-1 winners on the day. Patson Daka opened the scoring for the hosts after 54 minutes before Mergim Berisha extended the lead for the Austrian side after 62 minutes. Mwepu then left it late to net the goal of the game in additional time with a beautiful 60-meter run from his own half to seal the victory.

It has been a good season so far for the Zambian who has played 10 Austrian Bundesliga games, scoring one goal. He also featured in all eight of Salzburg’s UEFA Champions League games and played two UEFA Europa League games. His three Austrian Cup appearances takes his total tally of games played so far in the 2020/21 season to 21 in all competitions.

Alongside his Zambian national teammate Daka, Mwepu is still subject to a lot of transfer speculation with a host of clubs across Europe interested in his services.

‘Computer’ faces competition from LASK Linz striking duo of Johannes Eggestein and Thomas Goiginger, SV Ried midfielder Ante Bajic, Benedikt Pichler of Austria Wien and SK Sturm Graz midfielder Otar Kiteishvili. The winner is going to be announced in early January as the fan votes keep coming in.
