Here is a look at some of the games involving South African players overseas in the next couple of days.
ANDERLECHT vs WAASLAND BEVEREN
(Saturday, 20:45 SA time)
Percy Tau is on fire at the moment in Belgium having contributed significantly to Anderlecht’s recent good run in the league at the beginning of the season. Tau has played four games scoring two goals while contributing two assists in the league so far.
Anderlecht defeated Cercle Brugge 2-0 last weekend with Tau winning the team’s first goal, a penalty that was converted by new signing Lukas Nmecha. Anderlecht coach Vincent Kompany will be putting his hopes on the former Mamelodi Sundowns man to grind out more results in this away game.
AFC WIMBLEDON vs PLYMOUTH ARGYLE
(Saturday, 16:00 SA time)
After scoring on his league debut last weekend against Northampton Town, Durban-born midfielder Ethan Chislett is oozing with confidence. This weekend the midfielder is expected to be in the starting line up again as AFC Wimbledon take on Plymouth in League One today.
Chislett recently signed for Wimbledon from Aldershot in the National League where he scored nine goals and assisted another nine last season.
PACOS DE FERREIRA vs PORTIMONENSE
(Monday, 20:45 SA time)
For the first time in the past two seasons South African winger Luther Singh has had a full pre-season with a club, this comes after the Stars of Africa graduate joined Portuguese Primeira Liga side Pacos Ferreira on a season loan from SC Braga.
Singh scored three goals and assisted a further three on loan at Moreirense last season. The winger will be one of the key players that Ferreira will be looking to for creating and scoring goals up front.
The 23-year-old is not getting younger anymore and he needs to have a good season to ensure that he is able to go back to Braga and fight for a place in the starting line up or get a bigger move away from the ‘Arsenal fans’ to take his career forward.
